Health Coaching Services

We, as humans, often struggle adjusting to change and new health regimes, largely due to unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and habits, believing them to be inevitable and permanent. We think we cannot change or that it is too hard and challenging. We often use food, screen time, alcohol etc., to manage unpleasant thoughts and feelings, perpetuating the underlying issues.

With Health Management Coaching, I can help you recognise and change your patterns of unhelpful thinking and make steps towards making and attaining your goals and regain control over your health and life.

The coaching is not directed at specific diets or management (which may be directed by your relevant health practitioner) rather focussing on your thoughts and beliefs about lifestyle, diet, and treatments and helping to create more helpful thoughts and behaviour.

Health Management Coaching

Initial free 30-minute consultation

A 30-minute discovery call to discuss what you are trying to achieve and how I can best support you with your goals. Let’s discover if we are a good fit to work together. I will explain a little more about how health coaching works, why it is so beneficial, the outcomes you can expect, and whether you would benefit from individual or group coaching. 

Individual Coaching

These 50-minute sessions are available either in person or via video call. We spend this time discussing attainable short and long-term goals, your ideal future self, and bringing awareness to thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours that may hinder your progress. Coaching is focused on moving towards the idea of your future self by learning to choose thoughts that will allow positive change.

Group Courses

Working in small groups of 6-8 people meeting for 2 hours once per week for 6 weeks, with one 50-minute individual private coaching session. There is a huge benefit in working as a group when facing similar health and mindset issues. This safe space of sharing and learning offers support and insights from people experiencing the same frustrations.

Challenge your thoughts and change your life

Emotional eating / weightloss

Overeating and weight gain is often a symptom of underlying discomfort. Together we examine and create awareness of unhelpful thoughts and behaviours surrounding your diet and lifestyle choices, ways you feel that you self-sabotage and how we can challenge and change these patterns to more helpful outcomes to allow you to reach your goals.

Sticking to diets for specific health issues

Health-related diets for diseases such as Diabetes, Chronic Fatigue or Coeliac can feel restrictive and leave you feeling miserable. These diets can be complicated and can require support to help manage and stay on track. I can help you navigate this change and spend time working with you to create a positive mindset as you transition to a new way of eating.

Managing unhelpful thoughts about chronic disease

Searching for the possibilities and setting attainable goals will help you change your thinking around a chronic disease diagnosis. I can help you find the joy in your life and reset your thinking around what "normal" life looks like for you, guiding you towards empowered and intentional living.

"Have your cake and eat it" - small group work

Our group work aims to normalise thoughts about food in a world buzzing with diet culture. We focus on listening to your body, dropping the obsession with calories and choosing a more sustainable way to make good food choices to nourish our bodies.

Coaching helps individuals create a pathway to reach their desired goals. The coach and client work in a collaborative fashion to bring awareness to, and change unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and behaviour that may be limiting progress in different areas of their life – such as emotional eating, weight, relationships, work etc. 

No. Coaching is aimed at functioning individuals who are looking to achieve personal goals and create outcomes that will bring them success in areas of their lives.  Coaching begins in the present, identifying goals and potential obstacles that may limit progress, including unhelpful thoughts, beliefs and behaviours.
 
Therapy is a form of treatment aimed at relieving emotional distress and managing mental health disorders. It should be carried out only by a registered trained professional such as a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Psychotherapist or licensed counsellor.

I will not be providing specific medical advice/treatment for individuals or conditions. Clients must act on the advice of their own health practitioner. Coaching is aimed at identifying limiting thoughts and beliefs around chronic disease, and aims to help the client live a purposeful and intentional life.

No. The coaching is aimed at identifying and changing thoughts and beliefs that may lead to behaviour such as overeating, emotional eating, bingeing etc. There is no ‘diet’. The aim is to normalise eating and food, particularly in an entrenched culture of diets, body image disturbance and body shaming. The coaching will help retrain your brain to understand hunger signals and separate uncomfortable emotions and thoughts that may create urges to eat, managing them in a less harmful way.

I am a Doctor – a specialist Psychiatrist, but not your personal Doctor. I will not be making diagnoses, giving or recommending treatment for physical or mental health issues. You should continue to see your own health professional if and when necessary. 

Sessions are available in a package of 6. Investing for a number of weeks is most effective to help you narrow your goals, identify obstacles and make effective progress.
